‌Shortlisted final-year students presented reflections on their placement to an audience of 150 including an invited panel of industry experts and LUMS staff and students.

The panel was chaired by Karen Rizzello (Strategy and Growth Manager, Hewlett Packard  EG EMEA), and included; Yvonne Carvalho (HR Adviser, Johnson & Johnson); Toby Stanbrook (partner, Mazars); Reuben Mashford (senior consultant, IBM); (Head of Marketing LUMS) and (Head of Careers, Alumni and Employer Relations LUMS).

Karen Rizzello said the panel had selected Laura because “she managed to negotiate a complex set of challenges during her placement and was able to impart the lessons she had learned in an entertaining and informative manner.”

The other finalists were Zoe Pickering (BSc Hons Marketing Management) New Balance Athletic Shoes, Darren Waldron (BBA Hons Management) M&S, Hannah Packwood (BA Hons Management and Organisation) IBM, Sam Lacy (BSc Hons Economics) Lloyds Banking Group, Fiona Corlett (BBA Hons Management) Warner Brothers.

‌The competition which is for fourth-year LUMS students who have completed an industrial placement, commemorates Alison Tasker, a LUMS student who died while on her placement year. It takes place during the Research@Work course, a module for all LUMS second-year students who will take a paid industrial placement in their third year.
